About the Procedure

What Is Upper Blepharoplasty?

As we age, the skin of the upper eyelid droops and the muscle inside the lid stretches along with it. The sagging lid starts to block your field of vision, lashes can poke the eye, and raising your brows to see clearly carves ever deeper wrinkles into your forehead. Upper blepharoplasty, also called upper eyelid wrinkle surgery, corrects all of this. It makes a drooping gaze clear and defined again, giving you naturally younger looking eyes.

Is It For You?

Who Benefits from Upper Blepharoplasty?

  • The skin and muscle above your eyes sag enough to block your field of vision
  • Your eyelashes poke your eyes
  • You use your forehead muscles to open your eyes, which is deepening your forehead wrinkles
  • Drooping lids hide your double eyelid fold and make your eyes look smaller
Operation Method

How the Surgery Is Performed

01

Design

Before surgery, Dr. Lee designs your new eyelid line together with you during the consultation.

02

Incision and Removal

The skin is incised along the designed line, and the sagging skin tissue and unnecessary fat are removed.

03

Levator Connection

The eyelid skin is connected to the levator muscle and carefully sutured.

04

Finishing

The surgery is finished, and your once drooping eyes become clear and defined.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How long does upper blepharoplasty take?

1 hour to 1 hour 30 min. Dr. Lee Haksoo plans and performs every surgery himself, from the first consultation onward.

What kind of anesthesia is used?

IV sedation or local anesthesia. Which one suits you is decided during your consultation.

When are the stitches removed?

Stitches come out 4 days after surgery.

When can I get back to daily life?

After 2 to 3 days.

When can I wear eye makeup and contact lenses again?

Eye makeup and contact lenses are fine from two weeks after surgery. Avoid baths, saunas, exercise, and swimming pools for three weeks, and avoid alcohol and smoking for one month. Apply cold compresses for the first four days to ease the swelling.

Is upper blepharoplasty right for me?

It is worth considering if any of these apply to you. The skin and muscle above your eyes sag enough to block your field of vision. Your eyelashes poke your eyes. You use your forehead muscles to open your eyes, which is deepening your forehead wrinkles. Dr. Lee Haksoo confirms this with you in a personal consultation.
