About the Procedure

What Is Revision Eyelid Surgery?

As double eyelid surgery has become widespread, many people have gained beautiful eyes. But when a surgery ignores your individual eye size, eyelid thickness, and skin type, the result can be an unnatural crease, a fold that looks far too deep, or a fold that loosens over time. More and more people are living with problems like these, and revision eyelid surgery exists to correct them.

Is It For You?

When Is Revision Surgery Needed?

  • You are unhappy with your fold line, whether it is a puffy sausage shaped fold, a fold that looks too thick, or multiple creases
  • Your double eyelid fold has loosened
  • You have noticeable surgical scarring
  • Your eyes do not close fully, or your lashes look lifted upward
  • Your eyes look asymmetric
Timing

When Should You Have a Revision? At Least 6 Months Later

The timing of a revision is decided only after a detailed examination, once you have gone through a recovery period of about six months and the scars from your first surgery have stabilized. The adhesion caused by the first surgery must have resolved, the tissue around your eyes must have settled, and there should be no remaining inflammation or redness at the surgical site.
Operation Method

Revision Methods by Type

No two failed surgeries fail in the same way. Dr. Lee matches the correction to the exact problem your first surgery left behind.

01

Puffy Sausage Shaped Fold

The fold line sits too high or looks swollen. When excess fat tissue is the cause, we remove the unnecessary fat to bring the line back to a natural shape. When the fold was simply set too high, we perform surgery to lower the height of the line.

02

Loosened Fold

A fold set too low, or one weakly fixed and undone by sagging skin, gradually comes apart. We reset the line with a natural adhesion technique or an incisional technique, and combine it with ptosis correction to lower the chance of the fold loosening again.

03

Unnatural Line

A fold that is too large or too small, too deep or too shallow, broken or short in the middle, layered into multiple creases, or simply not the line you wanted. After a full consultation, Dr. Lee identifies the underlying problem and revises it into a natural line.
